Climate change associated with its warming is dangerous both for farms using water from precipitation and for those using irrigation.
It is estimated that by 2050, extreme weather conditions will be responsible for the destruction of 17% of yield in agricultural production. A very important issue – in the face of predicted climate changes – is to minimize the risk of contamination of watercourses, reservoirs and other water resources. Rational water management is necessary to reduce problems related to its availability in agriculture.
The following lessons are currently available in the “Water Management” area:
- Safety of water sources for agriculture and utilization of agriculturally polluted water
- Good soil water management
- Cost-effective crop irrigation
- Yield-generating water management
