Farm Management

The need for a risk assessment for workplaces

Every workplace on a farm involves specific risks due to its location, production profile, equipment used, machinery, contact with chemical and biological substances, with animals.

It is always necessary to analyse all workplaces in order to identify the risks and implement measures to protect workers. The result should be reducing work-related accidents to zero, as well as its harmfulness. Appropriate actions and instruments – may mean training, instruction, installation of warning signs, adjustment of personal protective equipment, or a change in work organisation or technical equipment. The plan must be implemented on an ongoing basis and modified and supplemented every year, after the subsequent risk assessment for the workplaces.

How to carry out a risk assessment is described in Area 15: Health and Safety.
