Soil Regeneration and the Resilience of Polish Agriculture – EAF Panel Discussion

A lasting transformation of the agri-food sector is impossible without restoring the biological integrity of agricultural land. The scale of soil degradation and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events are forcing a fundamental shift — from extractive to regenerative farm management. That is why, at the upcoming European Agricultural Forum 2026 (EAF 2026), where we are participating as an industry partner, our focus will be on innovative practices that support soil health.

Building Resilience from the Ground Up
Rebuilding organic matter is central to strengthening the resilience of Polish farms — it determines soil structure and water retention capacity. Regenerated soil can retain up to five times more water than depleted land, making it the only reliable safeguard for crop yields in the face of growing drought risk. Equally important is soil microbiology: a thriving soil microbiome enables the natural release of locked nutrients, reducing dependence on external inputs.

Panel Discussion
These are precisely the issues that will be at the heart of a panel discussion featuring Dr. Olaf Horbańczuk, Director of the Polish Association for Sustainable Agriculture and Food (ASAF). The debate will highlight the role of cover crops in accumulating biomass and organic matter, the potential of no-till systems, biostimulation, and precision soil diagnostics. The modern agricultural model is one in which ecological and economic outcomes are mutually reinforcing — creating a lasting competitive advantage for farms.

“Implementing innovative practices to improve soil health, with consideration for economic, social and environmental balance.”
